Description of Electricity Markets
The book concerns the structure of electricity markets, the motivations for changing them, how they work, and how they affect participants, customers and policy makers. The book looks at how the main drivers such as policy, act upon existing energy complexes such as power station mix and consumer behaviour, and create outcomes such as prices, emissions and security of supply that affect all stakeholders. This results in a framework for modeling the full effects of relational changes to the industry such as regulations, cross border transactions, and derivative trading.

Harris takes a descriptive and cross-disciplinary approach and includes technical and quantitative arguments that are required to construct prices and price effects from the various changes to the industry. Whilst the book is cross disciplinary, pricing structure is the thread that binds the book together and takes the view that to understand how to do pricing structure you need to feed all the drivers in.

This is a very practical book for anybody involved in pricing electricity.
