For families feeling the pinch as the credit crisis rumbles on, putting a strain on family finances, the ASDA Christmas Savings Scheme is offering to help ensure that Christmas doesn't break the bank this year.

With just 12 weeks to go until Christmas, ASDA is offering a helping hand for Brits worrying about how to finance the festive season – shoppers can add the change from their weekly shop into their savings plan with the quick swipe of their savings card.

By setting aside a few pounds each week, they will have saved up some money to pay for the treats and trimmings they need, and, as an added incentive, on November 17 ASDA will give a £6 bonus to all customers that save the maximum of £144 per card with the scheme.

Customers that save up to £97 will get a £3 bonus, and those that save at least £49 will receive a £1 bonus, to be automatically credited to the card on November 17. There is no limit to the number of cards each person can have.

The money customers save up can redeemed against anything at ASDA's 365 UK stores, from food and drink to gifts from the electrical, home and leisure, entertainment, or clothing ranges. .

ASDA set up the savings scheme to provide customers with "a simple and secure way to save for Christmas, whilst helping to alleviate some of the strain on families trying to pay for the rising cost of Christmas.

Customers can pick up a savings scheme card at any checkout or customers services desk in ASDA stores.

"ASDA's Christmas Savings Scheme is the perfect way to give families a helping hand this Christmas and it couldn't be simpler to put away that spare change at the checkout." said Gev Lynott, ASDA's head of financial services.

"We're all feeling the pinch this year and this easy solution to saving is a great way to ensure your family can enjoy the great festive celebration they deserve."
