HSBC does business

13 September 2005
HSBC is offering online business advice to small businesses as part of the re-launch of its business site.

The new-look business banking site offers a range of fact-sheets aimed at small and medium-sized business owners. They include advice on law and tax as well as offering business and economic information on more than 40 countries.

Head of business banking at HSBC, Simon Wainwright said: "Nine out of ten firms have Internet access and nearly 80 per cent of them cite obtaining business information for their business as the most important reason why.

"We’re giving businesses the convenience of a vast 24-hour information database at their fingertips, as well as access to their banking."

The site also features a free email newsletter and a section on important news facing UK businesses.

The launch of the service coincides with a survey published last week, showing that small businesses are often overlooked.

The study, jointly conducted by the Small Business Service (SBS) and the Office of Government Commerce, found that small businesses could deliver better value for money and more innovative solutions to central and local government.
