Online banking outfit first direct says its new email communications service is helping to offer customers better support.
The firm says that customers can quickly and easily get in touch, accessing the immediacy of a phone conversation in an email format.
Named Webchat, the service is designed to cover enquiries about new accounts.
However, if it works well in practice first direct says it will roll it out further.
Chief executive Richard Kimber said the company had already seen benefits from its new service.
He said the innovative scheme offered consumers "the chance to talk to our representatives through their keyboard and mouse rather than a handset".To read more about banking, click here.
