Research released by Lloyds TSB has revealed that Sir Trevor McDonald is Britain's choice for the ideal bank manager.
The survey asked more than 1,000 people to imagine a number of celebrities as their bank manager and choose their favourite - and esteemed broadcaster Sir Trevor came out on top.
Almost a third of respondents chose Sir Trevor to discuss their overdraft with, followed by Carol Vorderman with 22 per cent of the vote, Stephen Fry with 11 per cent, and Sir Steve Redgrave with nine per cent.
"Sir Trevor would make an ideal bank manager as he combines intelligence, with approachability and a friendly down-to-earth manner that people can easily relate to," commented Graham Lindsay, director of the branch network for Lloyds TSB.
Those surveyed rated financial nous as the most important attribute in a bank manager, along with kindness and understanding, flexibility, empathy and friendliness.
Perhaps Jude Law's cool exterior and flawless appearance for once didn't act in his favour - the actor was the celebrity the nation was least likely to want to see behind the counter, scoring only two per cent of the vote. Click here to start a relationship with your real bank manager.
