The potential to beat low savings rates with a 16% return after 3 years

The potential to beat low savings rates with a 16% return after 3 years

20 July 2012 / by Oliver Roylance-Smith

Give your savings and cash ISAs a boost...

“Leading 3 year fixed rates are offering around 4% per annum whilst 3 year cash ISA fixed rates are much lower around the 3.5% mark. Historically these are very low returns and even though the recent reductions in inflation have given us all some welcome breathing room, it is important to keep up to date with all of other opportunities available.

Investec’s 3 Year Deposit Plan will provide a fixed return of 16% provided the FTSE 100 at the end of the 3 year term is higher than its starting value, subject to averaging.

The downside is the rate is not fixed and if the FTSE is lower, you only get your capital back. The upside is that this potential return equates to almost 5.1% per year - a healthy premium on leading fixed term rates, especially those available for cash ISAs.”
