Online banking specialist first direct is to release a series of podcasts designed to help people understand a range of financial issues.
The first podcast will go live on the company website in June and will feature an interview with first direct's head of e-commerce, Darren Sugden, in which he gives consumers advice on staying safe when banking online.
Jenny Southwell, first direct's head of e-marketing, said that with the bank's rapidly expanding clientele, the company was looking at innovative new ways to reach them.
"Our outstanding customer service has traditionally been delivered by telephone," she said. "However, the success of our internet service means that 80 per cent of our customer contact is now online.
"The podcast is just the latest example of how first direct is embracing new ways of communicating with customers."
Podcasts have become increasingly popular since they were first launched in 2004, with 28 per cent of 16-24 year olds saying they have listened to a podcast within the last six months.To read more about banking, click here.
