Microsoft has revealed plans to offer a new credit card processing service for use with small business accounting software.
The company will collaborate with leading merchant acquiring institutions to develop the service for Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006 users.
The announcement came at Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference 2005 and revealed that the new service will provide integrated tools to help small businesses with up to 25 employees.
"Throughout the design and development of Small Business Accounting, we've been completely focused on delivering a competitively priced solution that simplifies financial management for our small-business customers," said Steve Guggenheimer, vice president of Small Midmarket Solutions & Partner Group at Microsoft.
Credit Card Processing for Small Business Accounting 2006 is aimed to help small businesses cut costs, increase revenue and reduce data entry.
Businesses will be able to accept phone orders as well as reach new customers who want to pay by credit or debit card and transactions will be captured directly into account records.
"We know that more small businesses want to be able to easily accept credit and debit cards for purchases," added Mr Guggenheimer.
