A new campaign launched by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) is to attempt to ensure that people in Scotland do not get into financial difficulty this Christmas.
The 'Save Xmas' campaign comes in response to last year's collapse of hamper firm Farepak, which saw 31,000 customers lose their products and the money invested in them.
Radio, leaflet and poster advertising will accompany the initiative, which OFT spokesperson Kyla Brand hopes will increase savings awareness in time for Christmas.
"The OFT is committed to working with such groups on the ground to increase knowledge and skills about savings, not only for this Christmas but for many more to come," she said.
Farepak's collapse came as the company went into administration on October 13th 2006, after operating since 1981.
Protests were led outside the gates of the firm's headquarters four days later.
