uSwitch: Small businesses could save by switching

29 January 2008 / by None
Small businesses could benefit from substantial savings on their gas and electricity bills if they compare and switch energy providers, according to uSwitch.

The group has stated that small businesses are facing financial difficulties with fuel bills just as much as consumers and should use similar strategies to minimise this.

Commenting on the services that they can offer to businesses, Tim Wolfenden, head of home services for uSwitch, said: "We do have a tool where we can provide quotes for business users on our website. We've only just launched that - we're working with a couple of third party comparison services and yes, we are finding that businesses are really engaged."

However, he notes that switching for businesses is "more complex" than it is for individual consumers but is ultimately worthwhile due to the significant savings to be made.

Mr Wolfendon estimated that a company which has never made an active decision to compare and contrast energy suppliers could make savings of up to 50 per cent.

In related news, uSwitch recently announced that consumers with an £8,000 loan over five years could save £180 by switching to a best buy deal half way through.
