American Express: Travel insurance 'vital'

23 November 2005
Millions of holidaymakers travelled abroad last year without insurance, risking both their personal and financial health, says American Express Travel Insurance.

A survey by the insurance provider found three million people went on holiday without travel insurance last year, despite the growing number of low cost insurance deals on the market.

American Express Travel Insurance spokesperson Joanne Field commented: "Travel insurance is so important as it covers you for situations you can never anticipate no matter how well you plan in advance."

A recent survey by Churchill Travel Insurance found millions of Brits 'forget' to take their holidays and are forced to fit in a last minute break to avoid losing their holiday days.

However, the insurance provider warned that in their rush to 'get away', many Brits did not take out travel insurance, potentially putting their wellbeing at risk.

Full details of American Express Travel Insurance packages can be found on the insurance provider's website, or by calling them direct.
