Bradford & Bingley launches online travel insurance

25 May 2005
To mark the significant increase in the number of people booking their holidays via the internet, Bradford & Bingley has launched a new online travel insurance package.

In conjunction with First Assist Insurance Services, the travel insurance policy for etravellers offers immediate cover, at a ten per cent discount.

It is available online 24 hours a day and offers comprehensive cover at some of the most competitive rates around - almost half the price of a leading competitor for seven days' individual cover within Europe.

"The ease of organising a trip from your own home or office desk attracts millions and we were keen to offer people the same convenience when booking their travel insurance," said Nigel Asplin, general insurance director for Bradford & Bingley.

"The new online travel insurance service reflects the needs of the 'e-generation', offering comprehensive cover for individuals and families looking for single trip, annual multi- trip or backpacker cover."

A survey released this week revealed that more than a third (36 per cent) of UK residents book their holidays online, compared with just 20 per cent who go to high street travel agents, and 18 per cent who use call centres.
