Bupa healthcare is the best option on an international level, according to a poll of readers of Investment International magazine.

Readers found it to be the 'Best International Healthcare Provider', saying that it stood out from the competition for providing expatriate healthcare during a challenging year.

An offshore investment and personal finance magazine for British expatriates and international private investors, Investment International's readers vote for the financial services providers which they believe to be the most experienced and professional.

Commenting on the award, Tim Slee, Bupa International's sales director said Bupa International is "delighted" with the accolade.

"Our customers have the reassurance of knowing that they can be treated in any of our 7,500 participating hospitals and clinics worldwide. Bupa's doctors and in-house medical teams - unique among private medical insurers - arrange hundreds of emergency evacuations and repatriations each year and offer customers medical advice and guidance, 24 hours a day."

He added: "Our multi-lingual advisers speak more than 30 languages and can help with everything from minor injuries and routine healthcare appointments to emergency evacuation - offering comfort to customers wherever they are in the world."

Bupa International medical insurance was also recently found to be the best international provider for the ninth time, by insurance brokers at the Health Insurance magazine awards.

More than 800,000 expatriates have international health insurance plans with Bupa International. In 2009, it launched a new flexible plan – Worldwide Health Options – that can be tailor-made to individual customers' needs.
