Car insurance premiums jump

21 January 2005
Car insurance premiums have increased 25 per cent in six months, insuresupermarket.com has found.

And while there is little consumers can do about the cost of insurance rising across the market, they can make sure that they are getting the best deal around.

Even with these increases Abbey has found that the average person can knock £130 from their motor insurance bill by shopping around.

Richard Mason, director of insuresupermarket.com pointed to other ways to save on insurance bills.

"Being scrupulous about shopping around and asking for the right cover is all important - for example, being accurate about how much mileage you do, adding extra security and actually using your garage to park you car rather than store junk," he said.
