Cat owners should take out pet insurance, Churchill has said.
A poll commissioned for the insurance company has found that over the course of a cat's lifetime owners spend around £13,500 on their pet, even before the cost of vets bills or insurance premiums.
The average claim on a cat cover plan is £300, Churchill said, however an MRI scan for your feline friend could cost as much as £1,000.
But any old plan will not do either, as the Churchill study warns some plans require the buyer to pay as much as 35 per cent of expensive treatments. To find out more about pet insurance, click here.
