Churchill: Cat owners should have pet insurance

15 November 2004
Cat owners should take out pet insurance, Churchill has said.

A poll commissioned for the insurance company has found that over the course of a cat's lifetime owners spend around £13,500 on their pet, even before the cost of vets bills or insurance premiums.

The average claim on a cat cover plan is £300, Churchill said, however an MRI scan for your feline friend could cost as much as £1,000.

But any old plan will not do either, as the Churchill study warns some plans require the buyer to pay as much as 35 per cent of expensive treatments.
