Engaged couples may save money by having their wedding abroad, it has been claimed.
According to WeddingsAbroad.com, ten per cent of couples in the UK choose to marry somewhere other than Britain.
Kate Thornton-Brown, managing director of the firm, commented that while the events are often stressful to organise, they do allow people to limit the guest list and enjoy an idyllic location.
The expert also claimed that it might be a good idea to pick up thorough holiday insurance - in case severe weather ruins the big day.
"More and more couples are choosing to head overseas to have their dream weddings. It is an exciting departure from tying the knot in the traditional local wedding," she said.
The rise in weddings abroad may be down to recent exotic celebrity unions.
Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee married on a Hawaiian beach while Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner married in the Caribbean.
