HUG your older relatives - help them get the best deal on their insurance

22 April 2005
To mark the fact that this is Help the Aged 'HUG' (Helping Unite Generations) month, website insuresupermarket.com is urging the younger generation to help their older relatives save up to £1,500 a year on their insurance.

According to the website, insurance holders aged 65 and over could stand to save a significant amount by shopping around for the best deal on all their insurance policies.

With premiums ranging between £165 and £411 a year on home insurance and between £195 and £319 on car insurance, it really can pay to shop around, the site asserts.

"The market has opened up much more for over 60s and a whole range of providers will now offer good value insurance to this group, although some do still quote very high premiums," said Richard Mason, director of insuresupermarket.com.

"If you are in good health, we'd recommend searching the whole market; while some specialist providers can provide competitive quotes, they do not necessarily always offer a good deal.

The site urges young people to get online and use their technological know-how to help their older friends and relatives get the best possible insurance deal they can.
