UK households will lavish presents on their pampered pets this Christmas to the tune of £400 million - but most are still reluctant to fork out for comprehensive pet insurance, says Halifax.
A survey by the insurance provider found owners will spend £35 this Christmas on pet presents while over 400,000 pet-loving owners will spend £100.
However, Halifax says pet owners should take care of paying for pet insurance before they splash out on pricey gifts.
Frances Wright at Halifax Pet Insurance, commented: "Britons’ love affair with their pets is clearly demonstrated by the number of owners that are planning to play Santa Paws this Christmas season.
"However we would encourage owners to ensure that they have adequate pet insurance, to cover treatment if pets require veterinary assistance, before they invest in expensive presents."To read more about Pet Insurance, click here.
