Halifax home insurance helps recovery after tornado

02 August 2005
Halifax Home Insurance has been quick to respond to claims from those affected by Thursday's tornado in Birmingham.

The insurer says it has received more than 30 claims from those affected by the tornado, with homes suffering damages so far from between £5,000 and £60,000.

Martyn Foulds, senior claims manager for Halifax Home Insurance, said: "[Thursday's] tornado has been devastating for the people of Birmingham and it has caused hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of damage to the area.

"Halifax Home Insurance has been in contact with all its customers known to be affected by the tornado.

"These customers, except where access has been prevented by the emergency services, have been visited by a personal claims consultant to assess the damage. Contractors have been instructed to begin to help them get their lives back to normal."
