Rich car list reveals new motor traits

28 August 2007
New research has revealed the cars most likely to be driven by high-income earners.

According to's Rich Car List 2007, Porsches are the most popular brand on the market for those with enough cash to splash, followed by Jaguars and Mercedes.

The results show that drivers are becoming more environmentally-aware of the impact of their motoring, as smaller cars are beginning to creep up the list.

Craig Stanilard, director of underwriting for the firm, commented that a big wallet no longer means a large vehicle – or a hefty car insurance bill.

"The car you drive is very much a status symbol and, traditionally, is a clear indication of the money you earned. However, our analysis shows that over time, smaller and greener cars are becoming popular with higher income earners," he said.

High-rollers may be keeping an eye on the Frankfurt International Motor Show next month – the event kicks off on September 11th 2007.
