Saga will increase the level of cover for its home and car insurance customers over the festive period to cover their Christmas shopping and presents. Throughout December, Saga home insurance customers will get an extra 10 per cent of cover at no extra cost to cover the increased value of gifts in the home. And, as part of the personal belongings cover included with Saga car insurance, the cover will double to £2,000 to protect Christmas presents while they are in transit. Research has found that each person will spend an average £435 on Christmas presents this year, and Saga said that increases the cover of its home and car insurance policies to protect its customers from opportunistic thieves who take advantage of the added value of gifts in the home during the festive season. Andrew Goodsell, executive chairman of Saga Group, commented: "Despite it being the season of goodwill there are some unscrupulous individuals out there." He added: "We urge people to make sure the gifts they buy over the next few weeks are out of sight of potential thieves, and ensure that home windows and doors are secure." © Fair Investment Company Ltd Apply for Saga home insurance online and save 25%
