Skiers urged by Sainsbury's to take out travel insurance

20 January 2005
Skiers have been urged by Sainsbury's Bank to make sure they have travel insurance before they head to the piste.

A lack of snow at many European resorts could lead to an increase in accidents Sainsbury's Bank has warned.

"As many as one million people will go skiing this year and normally you would expect around 50,000 sport related insurance claims, which collectively would be worth around £7.5 million," said Michael Liddell, travel insurance manager at Sainsbury's Bank.

"However, given the poor snow at some European ski resorts, the situation could be far worse this year."
