A free courtesy car is provided while repairs are being carried out, and in cases where cars break down completely in the first 12 months of being bought from new, a replacement vehicle is offered.

Customers who book online get a discount of 7.5 per cent in the first year, while free European cover is offered for 45 days a year.

In addition, a loyalty bonus is offered whereby the no-claims discount increases each year a customer makes no claim, up to a maximum of 70 per cent.

Yorkshire Building Society's motor insurance is offered as a branded product through its partnership with Royal & SunAlliance.

Ian Bullock, general manager sales and marketing at the Yorkshire said: "The launch of YBS motor insurance is a natural extension to our existing general insurance range.

"Customers both existing and new, will benefit from a hugely competitive product and should see them making savings from even the most famous direct brands."
