Investors at Barclays Stockbrokers are torn over the prospects for the UK economy, a survey has revealed.
According to the research conducted by Barclays Stockbrokers, share dealing customers are uncertain over the future of the FTSE. The study found that almost two fifths believe the market is too difficult to call at the moment.
However, a further 34 per cent have a bullish attitude, believing that recent market rallies are a sign of recovery, while 27 per cent remain bearish, saying that they do not believe that there will be a market correction.
Commenting, Barbara-Ann King, head of investments at Barclays Stockbrokers said: "The highs and lows of the FTSE in recent months have clearly divided investors when it comes to their outlook for the market, and the UK's economic recovery.
"Investors have faced, and are still facing, unprecedented challenges throughout the economic crisis, but are clearly taking it as an opportunity to gain from volatility," she added.
