Bubble fears allayed over ethical investments

05 November 2007
The theory that green investments are a green bubble waiting to burst across the board has been dismissed by one of the industry's biggest players.

F&C Investments has noted that sectors such as alternative energy continue to offer a number of handsome opportunities for investors with an eye for a bargain.

The solar sector is one example of this cited by Terry Coles, the co-manager of the firm's Global Climate Opportunities Fund. However, his strength of belief did not extend to the wind power industry.

"As with any other sector, there will be winners and losers, our responsibility is to identify companies that have a cost advantage and/or technological leadership," remarked the spokesperson.

Sectors identified as potentially offering opportunities are forestry and agriculture, water, energy efficiency and advanced materials, among others.

Barclays Wealth recently claimed that many stockbrokers, far from being fearful of global uncertainty, actually take advantage of the situation in order to find bargain investments.
