Fair Investment Company has been awarded five stars for its green and ethical ISA services by National Ethical Investment Week.

In a mystery shopping exercise of 15 leading fund supermarkets and discount brokers, National Ethical Investment Week gave Fair Investment Company five stars out of five for its range of green and ethical stocks and shares ISAs.

Fair Investment got 10 out of 10 due to; the range of funds available on the site and the ease at which these funds could be filtered to highlight ethical and green funds only, the fact the green and ethical funds met the financial and ethical objectives of investors, and the quality of the supporting information and resources provided.

"We are delighted to be named best fund supermarket for green and ethical ISAs by National Ethical Investment Week," said James Caldwell, Fair Investment Company director.

"The world of investment is changing; not only are ethical and green investments becoming more popular, but people are much more likely to do their own research and buy investments online than they were before. These two factors combined mean there is a real call for services like ours, which offer a quick and easy way to invest online in green and ethical investments."

Penny Shepherd MBE, chief executive of UKSIF, says Fair Investment Company stands out because it makes it easier for investors to identify green and ethical funds and provides resources that help investors understand the options available to them.

“With savvy investors now going direct to secure their ISA allowance, fund supermarkets are waking up to the growing interest in green and ethical investments," she said.

"Congratulations to Fair Investment Company for providing information and guidance to investors who want to make money and make a difference."

Mr Caldwell said, "ethics are important to Fair Investment Company, but we don't think just because you want to make ethical choices you should have to forfeit financial gain, and that's why we have always strived to offer a wide range of investments that aim to achieve good returns as well as considering ethical and socially responsible principles.

"We are delighted that our efforts have been so highly commended, however, we are still keen to develop our ethical and green investment service further in order to provide a better consumer experience."

The only other company to score five stars was Smile. Hargreaves Lansdown and Interactive Investor scored four, while the other 11 surveyed, including Bestinvest and Chelsea Financial Services scored three.
