Fair Investment Company has been named best green and ethical stocks and shares ISA provider for two years in a row by National Ethical Investment Week (NEIW).
In a mystery shopping exercise of 15 leading fund supermarkets and discount brokers, NEIW gave Fair Investment Company five stars out of five for its range of green and ethical stocks and shares ISAs.
Each fund supermarket was rated out of 10 on the number of green and ethical funds available, the comparable cost of these funds, how easy it is to identify them and the quality of supporting information such as guides and factsheets.
Fair Investment achieved 10 out of 10 and was therefore awarded the top star rating. The firm's associate director, Oliver Roylance-Smith says it is important to offer a wide range of investments that aim to achieve good returns as well as considering ethical and socially responsible principles.
"Ethics are important to Fair Investment Company," he said, "but investors who want to make green and ethical choices shouldn't have to forfeit financial gain and we have tried to achieve a balance in our green and ethical offering.
"We are therefore delighted that our efforts have paid off and we have been named best fund supermarket for green and ethical ISAs for the second year running."
Mr Roylance-Smith says that the fact ethical and green investment is becoming more popular, combined with the fact that people are much more likely to do their own investment research online than they were before, means there is a real call for services like Fair Investment's.
"We offer a quick and easy way to access green and ethical investments, and we are constantly developing our service to offer more. Since last year we have developed an ethical portfolio which includes ethical funds from Aegon, Aviva, Ecclesiastical and Jupiter, and we are looking to add more ethical and green funds to our Select 100."
Penny Shepherd MBE is Chief Executive of UK Sustainable Investment and Finance (UKSIF), which runs NEIW. She says it is important that resources like Fair Investment Company exist for investors looking for green and ethical options.
"Fair Investment has once again been awarded the highest score in NEIW’s Fund Supermarket Ratings. This is due to both the resources it provides for investors looking for green and ethical options, and the ease with which it allows investors to identify relevant funds.
"As interest in green and ethical investments grows it is increasingly important that investors are able to access the necessary information and guidance to make informed decisions. We are delighted to recognise Fair Investment Company for the second year as being one of the leading organisations filling this role."
