Income investors 'should look further afield'

24 October 2007
Income investors should broaden their horizons, according to an asset management firm.

John Stainsby, client portfolio manager of the JPMorgan Global Equity Income Fund, said that while there are a number of opportunities in the UK, global investment options could prove lucrative.

"Opportunities in the UK are still very much there but looking globally allows us to tap into growing sectors not represented in the UK," he commented.

Mr Stainsby added that global exposure also aids the building of a "a more diversified portfolio of stocks".

JPMorgan Asset Management notes on the FTSE All-World Developed Index, 87 of the 100 highest-yielding stocks are non-UK companies.

According to Mr Stainsby, there are global firms offering "compelling income opportunities" across a "broader range" of sectors for investors.

According to its website, the asset management division of global finances firm JPMorgan has investment experts working in "every major world market" and is one of the largest wealth and asset managers.
