The UK Social Investment Forum (UKSIF) has made it easier to participate in the UK's first National Ethical Investment Week (May 18-24 2008) with the launch of a new website which will offer support tools for making ethical investments, and raise awareness of ethical and green investments.

The National Ethical Investment Week (NEIW), led by UKSIF, will mark the first time that the financial services industry and grassroots consumer influences come together to encourage people to consider the option of ethical investment.

The online source is aimed at influencers, such as community groups and non-governmental organisations, which, it is hoped, will encourage the financial services industry to educate people on the advantages of making ethical and green investments.

It will also include a range of other information, including advice and suggestions for organising events to raise awareness, template marketing materials, and how to offer support to local financial advisers.

Chief Executive of UKSIF, Penny Shepherd, said: "Behaving in ways that can help benefit the environment or society is becoming increasingly mainstream. Choosing a green and ethical investment can be another way of acting responsibly but many people are still not aware of this option.

"We hope that a wide range of organizations and individuals will use National Ethical Investment Week to spread the word about green and ethical investments.

"The support of local champions will be critical in making the first NEIW a success so we have made it as easy as possible for them to do that, with our new website and Guide for Participants."

George Latham, Head of SRI Investment at Henderson Global Investors – one of the sponsors for NEIW – commented: "National Ethical Investment Week will provide the foundation for investors and their advisers to gain a greater understanding of the case for ethical investing."
