Parents urged to utilise Child Trust Funds by Post Office

17 January 2005
The first Child Trust Fund vouchers are being sent out today, and the Post Office is urging parents to make use of the investment plan.

Claire Oldstein, head of product development at the Post Office's financial services arm, said: "It is vital that parents grab the opportunity to start saving for their children's future."

However, research from Abbey has found that many people are still ignorant about the Government scheme.

Abbey found that 74 per cent of the parents and grandparents of children that qualify for the free savings bond know little or nothing about it.

Only 4 per cent believed they were fully informed and less than a quarter felt they knew enough about Child Trust Funds to make decisions about them.
