High street lender Alliance & Leicester has been given a top accolade for its work with first time buyers.
A panel of representatives from some of the country's key mortgage intermediaries voted Alliance & Leicester Best First Time Buyer Lender on behalf of Mortgage Magazine.
The lender was also highly commended in the Best Online Lender and Best Bank categories.
"First time buyers are having a hard time at the moment, but Alliance & Leicester's product range, combined with knowledgeable and sympathetic staff make many buyers' dreams a reality," said Ben Wilkie, editor of Mortgage Magazine.
"Our judges felt that the quality of Alliance and Leicester's mortgages placed it head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to helping first time buyers, and the bank's commitment to customer service cannot be faulted."
Stephen Leonard, Director of Mortgages at Alliance & Leicester commented: "Winning this award is fantastic news.
"First time buyers are the life blood of the housing market and this award reflects our ongoing commitment to helping them achieve that all-important first step onto the property ladder."
Some of the steps Alliance & Leicester has taken this year to help first-timers are campaigning for them to be made exempt from paying stamp duty, and introducing the First Step mortgage to help cover the cost of stamp duty. Click here to find out more about first time buyer mortgages.
