Alliance & Leicester urges consumers to start mortgage hunt sooner

04 November 2004
Following changes to mortgage regulations, Alliance & Leicester is urging consumers to begin their hunt for a new home sooner.

The advice comes in a guide launched by the bank, aimed at giving customers a better understanding of what they can expect from the new structure.

From the first of the month the Financial Services Authority took control of mortgage industry regulation, and the new rules mean than customers might not be able to get mortgage quotes as quickly.

"Following mortgage regulation, it will take some time for lenders and consumers to get used to the new processes of applying for mortgages," said Paul Cooper, Head of Mortgages at Alliance & Leicester.

"We believe in making this process as simple and hassle-free as possible for the borrower.

"The aim of this free guide is to reassure consumers that help is available and where to find it should they need it."
