HSBC launches online advice for FTBs

02 October 2006
Buying a first home can be a minefield of new information and confusing terms, so to combat the unknowns experienced by many first-time buyers (FTBs), HSBC has launched an online advice centre.

The site,, offers several handy bits of advice and answers common questions from first-time buyers who are looking to get onto the property ladder with the minimum of fuss.

Offering independent advice on estate agents, financial advisers, solicitors and surveyors, the site is aimed at providing FTBs with all the tools necessary to make their move into property ownership easier.

"Buying a home is one of the most important decisions that any of us make, it should be rewarding and enjoyable but all too often it's a minefield," said Carina Kemp, head of mortgages at HSBC.

"The Property Panel has been designed to help first-time buyers find and buy their new home with confidence and success.

"Our panel of advisers will take buyers through the entire process, cut through the jargon and offer common sense advice and practical tips that will save time, money and stress."
