Telford United fans make the club their home

24 October 2005
AFC Telford United have come up with an unusual way for their fans to put money into the club.

In fact, the fans are actually putting their houses in the club with a new initiative involving the West Bromwich Building Society.

During the home game with Prescot Cables, the UniBond League side will invite supporters to take out mortgages with the society, which will in turn earn money for the club.

For every ten mortgages the fans take out, West Bromwich Building Society will pay the club £1000. The club aims to raise £10,000 worth of much needed funds by the end of the season.

Jenny Cartwright, branch development manager at West Bromwich Building Society said: "Telford is and continues to be a rapidly developing part of the country. Although we only recently opened a branch in the area, we have been constantly aware of the vast potential that both this town and football club have.

"We believe this unique initiative will offer the fans a super deal on their mortgage and earn AFC Telford United much needed revenue at the same time. Everyone wins."
