05 January 2005
Fixed rate mortgages from Yorkshire Building Society have become cheaper, the bank has announced.

New packages are available to borrowers who are moving home or remortgaging.

A two-year fixed rate deal now costs 4.59 per cent and a five-year fixed rate 4.94 per cent for, reduced from 5.39 per cent

"The movements in the money market rates indicate that many consider the Bank of England base rate to have peaked at 4.75 per cent," said Rachel Court, head of mortgages at Yorkshire Building Society.

"We are delighted to be able to take advantage of the reducing rates and passing on the savings to those who choose Yorkshire for their mortgage."
