Yorkshire Building Society keeps cashback

12 January 2006
Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) has confirmed it will keep both versions of its credit cards with a cashback facility.

The Base Rate Tracker Card and the Classic Credit Card will both retain the facility.

The Base Rate Tracker Card offers an interest rate linked to the Bank of England Base Rate and 4.5 per cent on purchases and balances for six months.

There is also a one per cent cashback on spend between £1 and £2,000 per year, and 0.5 per cent back on spend over £2001.

The Classic Credit Card offers nought per cent on purchases and balance transfers for the first six months which moves to 15.4 per cent after six months.

This card also offers one per cent cashback on spend between £1 and £2000.

Rob Wakefield from credit cards at YBS said all new YBS mortgage customers will also benefit from the cashback option.

"All new YBS mortgage borrowers are offered a credit card when applying for a mortgage and the cashback payment is credited annually to their mortgage account. The cashback proposition came very highly up the agenda particularly when linked to a mortgage," he said.
