19 February 2004
The Irish Minister for European Affairs, Dick Roche, has indicated that both as EU Presidency and nationally, Ireland welcomes today's meeting in Berlin of the heads of Government of France, Germany and the United Kingdom.

He said, 'As the European Union grows larger and becomes more diverse, it is almost inevitable that this type of meeting will become more common,' and added that the Presidency 'has found the participants in today's meeting to be very open and helpful in letting us know what is happening and they have committed to briefing us after the meeting has concluded'.
