More people confident about property values

Confidence in property values is increasing, according to a new survey.

Websites and have found that 52 per cent of property-hunters are expecting house prices to rise.

This figure was just 30 per cent in December.

Moreover, a smaller number of people now think house prices will drop. This figure has dropped from 66 per cent last month to 43 per cent.

"Last month the seeds of optimism were sown as confidence in the housing market began to increase," said the managing director of and, Jim Buckle.

"Housing market activity normally picks up at the start of the year. As the spring approaches I would expect to see a gradual improvement in house hunter confidence, provided interest rates remain steady."
