New Zealand property and tourism enlists help of Lord of The Rings makers

12 September 2007
An innovative new marketing campaign to bring more tourists to New Zealand is being launched by tourism officials and has got Lord of the Rings effects company Weta Digital on board, has reported.

Weta Digital is the company that created the stunning visual effects that defined The Lord of the Rings trilogy of films and King Kong, and they will now bring their expertise to an animated film that will focus on New Zealand as the last country that humans settled on.

Tourism New Zealand chief executive George Hickton told Travel Weekly: “New Zealand was the last country on earth to be settled, so visitors can experience life as it should be.”

The film is due for launch next month, and the special effects company have been brought in to attempt to draw more people from overseas. “This is a unique selling point for New Zealand and our youth sums up what visitors experience when they come here," Mr Hickton added.
