advisory broker
A broker who not only deals in stocks and shares on behalf of his client, but also advises on what shares should be bought and sold for the portfolio. - The broker will contact the client to suggest changes in the composition of the portfolio, but does not have authority to trade on a completely discretionary basis.
- The client pays a commission on dealing and may pay charges based on the value of the portfolio.
