Bankruptcy Fees

DebtBankruptcy Fees

Bankruptcy fees are charged to cover aspects of the process such as the court fee and administration costs. The fees apply to everybody who is declared bankrupt so it is worth looking at alternatives before being charged bankruptcy fees. If you apply for bankruptcy you will have to pay the following fees:

  • A court fee of £150 – In some cases this may be waived, for example if you are claiming benefits such as Income Support. Court staff should be able to advise you on this
  • A deposit of £335 towards the administration costs of your bankruptcy. This fee will ALWAYS apply
  • A fee to swear in the statement of affairs – This is not applicable in a county court but a £7 charge applies in the High Court or before a solicitor
