Barclays ISAs
Barclays ISAs
With Barclays ISAs you can invest up to £7,200 per tax year, tax free. Barclays offer both Cash ISAs and Stocks and Shares ISAs (Mini and Maxi ISAs were reclassified on April 6 2008, and the allowance was raised from £7,000 per tax year with a £3,000 maximum for cash to £7,200 with a £3,600 allowance for cash). This means you can either invest your whole allowance (£7,200) with Barclays, either putting the whole amount into a Barclays Stocks and Shares ISA or putting up to £3,600 into a Barclays Cash ISA and the remainder into Stocks and Shares.
Barclays ISAs include:
- Tax Haven Cash ISA - This ISA has a high savings rate and you can open it from as little as £1
- Barclays Cash ISA - Not as competitive as the Tax beater, but it does allow you to transfer funds from other ISAs
- Capital Protected Stocks & Shares ISA – This is a five year savings plan -you benefit from the potential returns of the FTSE 100 with the reassurance that your capital is protected provided that it is held for the full five years
- Self Select ISA – This allows you to select the individual stocks and shares that you wish to hold within your ISA.

Investment News Headlines
Investment ISAs are designed as medium to long term investments, for example at least five years.
The value of your investment and the level of any income received from it can fall as well as rise and is not guaranteed and you may not get back the amount of your original investment.
The tax efficiency of ISAs is based on current tax law and there is no guarantee that tax rules will stay the same in the future.
If you choose an index-tracking trust which invests overseas, exchange rate variations may cause the value of your investment to increase or decrease.
If you unsure what Investment ISA plan is right for you speak to an independent investment adviser.
