Bankruptcy Restrictions Order

A BRO (Bankruptcy Restriction Order) could be applied to you during your bankruptcy by your official receiver who is appointed to your case. If, during investigation, the official receiver decides that you are to blame for your circumstances or if you fail to comply with the bankruptcy order they may ask the court to issue a bankruptcy restriction order. The restrictions that are involved in a BRO include:

  • You may not act as the director of a company or take part in its promotion
  • You must disclose your bankrupt status to apply for credit of more than £500
  • You must tell anyone you wish to trade with of your bankruptcy
  • You may not be a Member of Parliament in England or Wales
  • You may not act as an Insolvency Practitioner or advise anyone else on debt

Speak to an advisor today for more information and to find out whether a BRO could apply to you. Just fill in the form and one of our debt experts will get back to you with all the debt advice you require.
