Building Societies

Building Societies

A building society is an organisation based on mutuality, where communities pool their resources to benefit both themselves and the community as a whole. Building societies have been in existence for centuries in the UK and have now grown to be one of the pillars of the British financial industry. All building societies are run for the advantage of their members, with the lack of shareholders allowing profits to be directly invested back into products and services rather than dispersed out through dividends.

Products offered by building societies include mortgages, banking, insurance, savings and investments.  Due to their history in the area of mortgages, building societies are regarded by many as being experts in that particular area, with a wide breadth of experience to draw on both in staff and management.

Choosing the right building society to entrust with your money or security can be a difficult decision. Information on all the major building societies in the UK can be found within this website, with short reviews of their history and areas in which they operate. For these and other pages, follow the links on both the left and bottom of this page.
