Claiming Your Overdraft Charges Back
Claiming Your Overdraft Charges Back
In April 2006, The Office of Fair Trading ruled that many banks had been charging their customers unfairly for things like exceeding credit limits, bounced cheques, and most commonly, going over their overdraft limits.
The OFT said that bank charges should "only be used to recover certain limited administration costs" - estimated to be around £4.50 for sending a letter of notification – and not for profit, but many were charging up to £28 for every day a customer was over their overdraft limit.
