It can be hard to know where to begin when looking to take out a life insurance policy. See below for some useful information if you are comparing life cover options.

 
The premiums that a consumer will pay for their life insurance policy will depend on a number of factors:

• Your age
• Your gender (women on average live longer than men)
• Health issues
• Life choices such as smoking
• Occupation and hobbies
• If the policy is in joint names
• The individual life insurance policy being considered e.g. decreasing term policy

In selecting the basis of life cover you will also need to answer a number of fundamental questions such as:

• Should the cover last for a limited time period or their whole life?
• What is the level of cover that is needed?
• Should this level of cover remain constant throughout the life of the policy or be changeable?
• Should the life cover be written in trust?
