Current Accounts with no Fees

Many banks are now applying monthly or annual fees to their current account services. These charges are often justified by offering you additional services over the "basic" current service that is offered. With increased competition between banks to get your custom it is worth shopping around to find a current account deal that suits your requirements.

If you are interested in opening a new current account or switching your existing current account, it is important to compare the different current accounts available to you, to ensure that you are making the most out of your money.

Some banks may offer you a premium current account which may require you to pay a monthly fee.  These accounts may also stipulate that a certain amount of money must be paid into your account every month.  In exchange for your fee, you could receive some of the following benefits:

  • Insurance products (such as travel, mobile phone cover etc)
  • Breakdown cover
  • Fee-free overdrafts

If you are interested in switching your current account, you will be relieved to find that the process could be a lot easier than you may have originally thought.  Most banks and building societies offer a dedicated switching service for current accounts, which could automatically transfer any Direct Debits or standing orders across to your new current account.
