Rising utility bills to affect households
19/12/2007

The cost of gas and electricity will be a financial "shock" to some households in the coming year, a savings expert says.
Susan Hannums from AWD Chase De Vere suggested that people would find it more difficult to save and there should be less of an emphasis on credit and borrowing.
This is Money website has reported on a survey that showed a fifth of people have hidden debts their partners do not know about.
But Ms Hannums said that utility bills combined with fixed-rate mortgages ending would make things very difficult for people.
"I think it's no secret that next year's going to be a tough year financially for a lot of people," she added.
"And, obviously, it's no secret that everything else around just seems to be going up – gas, electric, the whole shebang."
AWD Chase de Vere is one of the UK's largest independent financial advisers in the country and has 29 offices and more than 400 professional advisers.
