ScottishPower raises prices
04/02/2008

Energy provider ScottishPower has announced that it has increased its prices for both gas and electricity tariffs.
According to uSwitch.com, the hikes represent a 15 per cent increase for gas and a 14 per cent rise for electricity.
Ann Robinson, director of consumer policy at the comparison site, said that the announcement would not be a surprise to consumers, as other suppliers have raised their own prices in recent months.
"Those looking to minimise the impact of higher energy costs on their household budget should seriously consider taking the following steps: move to dual fuel, pay by direct debit and go online," she recommended.
Commenting on the firm's decision, moneysupermarket.com said that the move would "have the greatest negative impact" upon its customers in southern Scotland, North Wales and the north-west of England.
The firm suggested that changing to an online tariff would be a sensible move for many people affected by the changes.
