A 3.2 inch touchscreen (resistive) sets the Nokia 5228 near the top of the non-3G end of the market. The user experience is enhanced with handwriting recognition, accelerometer for use in landscape or portrait views and the Symbian OS v9.4.

A respectable connectivity package includes GPRS/EDGE HTML/xHTML WAP browsing with the added bonus of RSS news feeds, wireless Bluetooth and quad-band roaming for comprehensive coverage when overseas. Messaging is also well catered for with SMS for quick messages, email for keeping in touch with friends on the net and instant messaging for ongoing chat conversations.

Entertainment on the go comes in the form of a MP3/MP4 player and a stereo FM radio, both of which can offer up to 32 hours of music before the battery needs a recharge. There is also a 2 megapixel camera and video recorder that captures nHD (640x360) images at 30fps. The photo editor allows final touches to be added and a storage space of 70MB can be expanded up to 16GB with a microSD card. The Nokia 5228 brings a high-end look to the non-3G end of the market and makes a great buy for anyone on a budget.
